BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Bismarck Century High School teacher accused of inappropriate behavior will be required to undergo professional development training in classroom ethics and sexual harassment training.

The Bismarck Tribune reports social studies teacher Gregg Schmidt was placed on paid administrative leave last November pending an investigation, which was completed last week.

Schmidt was accused of making inappropriate comments to students, teaching content unfit for students and having “sexually charged” items in his classroom.

It’s unclear when or where Schmidt will return to teaching after his training.

State teachers union attorney Mike Geiermann says Schmidt is a “longtime, well-respected” teacher and wants to return to the profession. Geiermann said Schmidt declined comment on the investigation.
