CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - The Latest on Michigan bank robbery and hostage situation (all times local):

9:30 p.m.

Authorities say a hostage situation at a suburban Detroit bank lasted more than four hours before ending peacefully with a suspect in custody.

Canton Township Public Safety Director Joshua Meier says an armed man who had announced a robbery at a Citizens Bank branch surrendered after releasing his hostages Thursday evening.

Meier did not disclose the suspect’s name or any criminal charges he might face. He says the incident remains under investigation by police and the FBI.

Canton Township police spokeswoman Barb Caruso said earlier the suspect had released three hostages.

No injuries were reported.

Canton Township is about 30 miles west of Detroit.

Police say a hostage situation at a suburban Detroit bank has ended peacefully with a suspect in custody.

Canton Township police spokeswoman Barb Caruso says three hostages were released Thursday evening and a suspect was taken into custody about an hour later. The suspect’s name and any pending criminal charges were not immediately released.

Police planned a news conference later Thursday night. No injuries have been reported.

Police say two hostages have been released from a suburban Detroit bank but one might still be inside with a man who attempted a robbery.

Canton Township police spokeswoman Barb Caruso says officers are negotiating with the man Thursday. Power is out at the Citizens Bank branch, but Caruso says it wasn’t cut by police.

An officer with a megaphone was heard telling the man that “no one will get hurt” if he surrenders and walks out. Police believe he’s armed.

No injuries have been reported.

Police in suburban Detroit say they’re negotiating with a man holding hostages inside a bank following a failed robbery.

Canton Township police spokeswoman Barb Caruso tells the Detroit Free Press that an undisclosed number of hostages are inside a Citizens Bank branch.

Police have the bank surrounded and say the man has barricaded himself inside. Caruso says a special operations team is negotiating with the suspect.

Police said on the department’s Facebook page that no injuries have been reported. Some roads surrounding the bank have been closed to traffic, and police are asking residents to avoid the area.

A message left with Caruso by The Associated Press wasn’t immediately returned.
