LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say the father of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. faces a misdemeanor battery charge in Las Vegas alleging that he pulled a woman out of his vehicle, punched her in the leg and left her after a boxing event last September.

Officer Aden OcampoGomez said Thursday that 65-year-old Floyd Mayweather Sr. was processed Wednesday at the Clark County jail.

He was freed on $1,000 bail pending a March 27 trial that could get him up to six months in jail.

OcampoGomez says the 59-year-old woman was treated at a hospital for bruises.

She told police she argued with Mayweather Sr. in the vehicle after a Sept. 16 boxing match featuring Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin at T-Mobile Arena.

Mayweather’s attorney didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
