BARRE, Vt. (AP) - School officials say unionized teachers in Barre and the three school boards that employ them have reached a tentative contract agreement.
A late night Monday mediation session between negotiators for the teachers and the school boards reached a tentative settlement, ending an impasse that had lasted over a year. The Times Argus reports the settlement sets the stage for a series of yet-to-be-scheduled ratification votes.
The unionized teachers have to approve the agreement as do the Barre, Barre Town and Spaulding High School boards.
All involved parties are deferring comment on the tentative contract until after it is ratified.
