CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The mother of a 2-month-old boy who died in 2016 in New Hampshire after ingesting methamphetamine has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.
The Concord Monitor reports 21-year-old Kayla Austin pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering the welfare of a child just days after her ex-boyfriend, Bradford Ross, was sentenced to prison for at least 2 ½ years on drug charges stemming from the death of Cayden Ross.
Each had faced charges of manslaughter and negligent homicide, which were dismissed as part of separate plea agreements.
Authorities said the boy died of methamphetamine intoxication. They said Ross was running a meth business from a travel camper.
Assistant Merrimack County Attorney David Rotman said Austin has taken positive steps toward rehabilitation and has regained custody of a daughter.
