CUMMING, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a man who thought his home was being burglarized is accused of firing several shots at a FedEx truck.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Austin Fouts is charged with aggravated assault with a gun after the incident happened Saturday near Cumming.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Fouts told the driver he didn’t realize he was a FedEx driver and thought he was stealing from the residence.

Authorities say Fouts and his father returned and spotted a white box truck leaving their driveway. Fouts thought the residence had been broken into and wasn’t sure if other family members were inside.

Authorities say several bullet holes were visible in the back of the truck, and several went through the cab.

It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
