WOBURN, Mass. (AP) - A former Massachusetts police officer who served jail time for stealing more than $19,000 from the department’s evidence room has lost his pension.
The MetroWest Daily News reports that the Framingham Retirement Board voted unanimously Tuesday to rescind Alan Dubeshter’s pension rights and return his contributions to the retirement system.
Dubeshter was in charge of receiving and cataloging evidence for the Framingham Police Department. Police started investigating in September 2015 after six envelopes from the evidence room were discovered inside his truck with cash missing.
Dubeshter was placed on leave, and he resigned in April 2016. He pleaded guilty to a single count of larceny, and was sentenced to one year in jail with 30 days to serve.
He declined to comment following Tuesday’s hearing.
