Vice President Mike Pence acknowledged that some U.S. allies in the Middle East disagreed with the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in an interview that aired Tuesday.
“As I talked to President El-Sisi in Egypt as I talked to Kind Abdullah in Jordan on this trip, I heard from friends with whom we have great common cause, and a strong alliance, that they disagreed with the decision President Trump made to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” Mr. Pence said in an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell during his foreign trip
“But they moved on,” he added.
Mr. Pence said he hopes that all those who disagree with Mr. Trump’s decision are able to move past their disagreement and be open to the peace process. He said the president remains committed to trying to bring both the Israelis and the Palestinians to the negotiating table.
