SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Residents of a mobile home park in Maryland are upset over their rent rising by nearly 60 percent under a new owner.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reported Monday that rents rose by $150 for most people living at Cedarhurst Mobile Home Park. The total owed is now about $395 for most tenants.

The newspaper reported that the park’s new owner gave little more than a month’s notice.

Florida-based Sunrise Capital Investors purchased Cedarhurst for $1.6 million. CEO Kevin Bupp declined to comment to the newspaper, referring questions to a local attorney. That lawyer, John Custis, didn’t return calls or an email seeking comment.

The company’s website says its investment strategy focuses on “underperforming and distressed” mobile home and recreational vehicle parks.
