More than half of registered voters blame President Trump and Republicans that control both chambers of Congress for the government shutdown, according to a recent poll.
The liberal leaning Public Policy Polling conducted for the Center for American Progress Action Fund found that 52 percent of those surveyed blamed Mr. Trump and GOP lawmakers for the shutdown, compared to 43 percent who blamed Democrats on Capitol Hill.
The survey also found that 17 percent of registered voters wrongly believe Democrats have majorities in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate, while 6 percent were not sure.
Nearly six in 10 registered voters favor protections for Dreamers, illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, to be included in a government funding bill, and 40 percent approve of Mr. Trump’s performance.
