CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a baby and his mother were struck by a stray bullet in North Carolina.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in a statement posted via Twitter that officers received a call from the Carolinas Medical Center reporting that a woman had brought her 4-month-old infant in for care Monday afternoon. Authorities say the woman was walking to her apartment when an unidentified person fired a bullet that went through the baby’s ankle and grazed the woman.
Police say the victims are not believed to have been targets, adding the injuries were not life-threatening.
Authorities say no one is in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
