Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders may have been the best-dressed — and warmest — socialist at New York Mayor Bill de Blasio’s oath of office this week.
Iconic snowboard maker and sportswear company Burton received free advertising Monday when Mr. Sanders sported a $690 Burton 2L LZ down jacket to the start of Mr. De Blasio’s second term at City Hall.
The stylish gear was spotted by eagle-eyed free-market conservatives at Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire.
“MAN OF THE PEOPLE,” the website wrote Tuesday. “The ’progressive look’ has a price. … Bernie Sanders was forced to upgrade his traditionally unkempt look, and he did it with a decidedly un-99%-er coat by the decidedly upmarket Burton outfitters.”
Mr. Sanders, 76, kept his comments to a brief six minutes and joked that “by Vermont standards this is a warm and pleasant afternoon.”
Mr. de Blasio told shivering attendees that he shortened his remarks due to the temperature, which hovered in the teens.
If you’d like to copy Bernie’s faux-progressive look … you may have to shell out a little more than the Vermont Senator,” the website added. “Burton is only carrying one version of the coat right now, and it’s $899.”
The senator also wore his Burton jacket to President Trump’s inauguration.
