RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Latest on the winter storm that dropped about a foot of new snow in the Sierra (all times local, PST):

6 p.m.

A winter storm moving into eastern Nevada after dumping a foot of snow in the Sierra has set a precipitation record in the north-central part of the state.

The National Weather Service reported Friday the liquid equivalent of .41 inches (10 centimeters) recorded at the Eureka Airport about 250 miles (400 kilometers) east of Reno broke the old record of 0.3 (7 cm) set in 1983. The liquid equivalent is the water left over from rain and melted snow.

The storm headed into Utah Friday moved off its expected path north of U.S. Interstate 80 and was following an area along U.S. Highway 50 through southern Lander, Eureka and White Pine counties.

The weather service cancelled a winter weather advisory for northern Elko County but issued a winter storm warning in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday for the central region, including the Ruby Mountains south of Elko and Great Basin National Park east of Ely along the Utah line, where up to a foot (30 cm) of snow is possible in the mountains.

A winter weather advisory continues until 4 a.m. Saturday in northeast Nevada, including Elko County where as much of 4 inches (10 centimeters) of snow is possible in the valleys and up to 8 inches (20 centimeters) in the mountains.

The National Weather Service says 11 inches (28 centimeters) of snow has been recorded at the Northstar ski resort near Truckee and about 10 inches (25 centimeters) at Mt. Rose southwest of Reno. Up to 7 inches (18 centimeters) was reported at Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe.

At Lake Tahoe, more than 5 inches (13 centimeters) of snow and 1 inch (2.5 centimeter) of rain was recorded at lake level on the west shore at Tahoma, California.
