Rep. Steny Hoyer said Friday that lawmakers could come to an agreement without a government shutdown, but he emphasized it’s on Republicans to make that happen.

“Frankly, we said enough. Let’s get to a deal. Let’s get to an agreement. Let’s move forward,” Mr. Hoyer, Maryland Democrat, said on CNN.

President Trump delayed his trip to Florida Friday, postponing until a deal is reached, NBC News reported, but Mr. Hoyer said that’s not the issue facing lawmakers who are trying to come to a deal.

“It’s not where he physically is located that’s the issue. It’s that he, frankly, changes his mind from hour to hour as to what he’s for. It apparently depends upon which staffer talks to him at which time,” Mr. Hoyer said.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have accused the president’s staff of changing his mind and sabotaging the bipartisan agreement.
