BOSTON (AP) - A bald eagle has been spotted soaring along the Charles River in Boston.
The Boston Globe reports that the bird was seen last week near the Charles River Esplanade. An employee of the nonprofit group The Esplanade Association snapped a photo of it perched in a tree.
The group’s executive director, Michael Nichols, says he hopes more visitors to the riverside park will get a chance to see the bird in coming weeks.
Once in danger of extinction, bald eagles have made a huge comeback nationwide and were removed from the federal endangered species list in 2007. They were reintroduced in Massachusetts in 1982.
