LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - Police have made an arrest in the shooting of a man found dead in a minivan in Lawrence on New Year’s Eve.
Police tell The Eagle-Tribune that 49-year-old Jose Urena is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge Thursday following his arrest Wednesday.
He’s charged in the Dec. 31 death of 22-year-old Jeffrie Santana-Peguero.
Police say said Urena and Santana-Peguero knew each other and the shooting may have sprung from a domestic incident.
The killing in the waning hours of 2017 was the city’s 11th homicide of the year, the most since at least 1987 when the FBI began tracking community crime statistics.
It was not immediately clear if the suspect had a lawyer.
