TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - The Latest on videos posted by a University of Alabama student containing racial slurs (all times local):

5:50 p.m.

A former University of Alabama student is apologizing for posting videos using a racial slur.

Harley Barber told the New York Post , “I don’t know what to do and I feel horrible. I’m wrong and there’s just no excuse for what I did.”

Barber is no longer enrolled at the university after the videos were reported to school administrators.

Barber told the newspaper she is returning home to New Jersey after being expelled from the university. The university would not confirm her expulsion, but a spokesman said she is no longer enrolled there.

In one video, Barber uses a racial slur for African-Americans. In a second video responding to criticism, she says she’ll use the word, “as much as I want” and then repeats it multiple times.

The president of the University of Alabama says a student who repeatedly used racial slurs in social media videos is “no longer enrolled” at the university.

President Stuart R. Bell in a Wednesday statement called the videos “highly offensive and deeply hurtful.”

Bell said university officials “hold our students to much higher standards, and we apologize to everyone who has seen the videos and been hurt by this hateful, ignorant and offensive behavior.”

It was unclear if the student had been expelled. Asked if that is what Bell’s statement meant, school spokesman Chris Bryant replied in an email that he could “only provide directory information, and this student is no longer enrolled.”

In the first video, the woman uses a racial slur for African-Americans. In a second video responding to criticism, she says she’ll use the word, “as much as I want” because she is from New Jersey and now living in the South.

The University of Alabama says social media videos of a student repeatedly using a racial slur have been reported to the school’s student-conduct office.

In the first video, the woman uses a racial slur for African-Americans. In a second video responding to criticism, she says she’ll use the word “as much as I want,” and then says it repeatedly.

The university said the comments are “ignorant and disturbing and in no way reflect the values of The University of Alabama.”

The videos were first reported by al.com.

University spokesman Chris Bryant confirmed a student is being investigated. The Associated Press is not identifying her because she has not been charged with a crime. An email to her university account was not returned.

In the video, the woman identified herself as a sorority member from New Jersey.
