President Trump’s first wife Ivana Trump said Monday that her ex-husband is sharp as a tack, and while he may say “silly” things from time to time, he is “definitely” not the racist many in the media are painting him to be.
Appearing on the U.K.’s “Good Morning Britain” TV show, Ms. Trump was asked to weigh in on the president’s comments during last week’s Oval Office meeting on immigration, in which he allegedly referred to Haiti and African nations as “sh—hole countries.”
“I don’t think Donald is racist at all,” Ms. Trump stated. “Sometimes he says things which are silly or he doesn’t really mean them or something like that, but he’s definitely not racist. I’m sure of that.”
The press “change every word” the president says and spin whatever comes out of his mouth to fit their agenda, she argued.
Ivana Trump, who was married to Mr. Trump from 1977 to 1992 and has three children with the president, Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric, also defended the president against allegations that he’s losing his grip on reality. She repeated Mr. Trump’s own words that he is a “very stable genius” who is more than capable of running the country.
“I don’t think Donald is going to do anything [irrational],” Ms. Trump said.
“He’s a stable genius, definitely,” she added. “He’s very stable, very focused, very organized.”
“When he tweets it’s out of his mouth, and sometimes it might not be clear, but at least it is exactly what he thinks,” she said.
