PHILADELPHIA (AP) - AJ Brodeur and Ryan Betley combined for 50 points as Penn closed the game making 10 straight at the foul line to defeat Columbia 77-71 Saturday night and remain unbeaten in the Ivy League.

Brodeur made six 3-pointers and scored 30 points, 22 in the first half. Betley scored 20 with four 3-pointers and made four straight free throws in the final 15 seconds. The Quakers (12-5, 3-0) were 12 of 33 from distance.

Mike Smith scored 27 points to lead Columbia (3-12, 0-2), including eight in the final 1:38, pulling the Lions to 71-69 with 39.5 seconds left. Quinton Aldesh added 15 points. Columbia was 6 of 25 from behind the arc, and had three assists on 28 baskets.

The game was tight in the early going as the teams went through 10 lead changes and nine ties before Brodeur ended the first half with a 3-pointer and Betley opened the second half with another one. Penn eventually built the lead to 13 points.
