SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Health officials are adding a Utah food pantry to the list of places where people may have been exposed to hepatitis A amid a widening outbreak.
Utah County health officials said Thursday Tabitha’s Way Local Food Pantry in Spanish Fork received donated food from an Olive Garden where an infected employee worked in late December. Anyone who got non-canned food between December 28 and January 3 is asked to call the agency.
Olive Garden spokesman Rich Jeffers says food is carefully prepared for donation, and wasn’t handled by the affected employee.
Warnings were also issued this week about possible exposures at a Spanish Fork Sonic Drive-In and a 7-Eleven in West Jordan. Thousands of people could have been exposed.
The Utah outbreak began in August after the disease spread from a deadly epidemic in San Diego.
