MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont has sold off its state airplane to the tune of $85,500 to an Indiana-based aviation company.

The Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services says the 1962 Cessna was sold last week at an auction in Montpelier. WCAX-TV reports the buyer was Blue Sky Aviation of Huntingburg, Indiana.

An appraisal shows the aircraft was valued at $102,000. A number of current and former state officials butted heads over what to do with the airplane that averaged 118 flying hours each year. In the end, Republican Gov. Phil Scott made the decision to sell the aircraft.
