BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to 14 to 15 years in prison for his role in the death of a woman whose body was found at a highway rest area on Cape Cod.

The Cape Cod Times reports a judge sentenced 32-year-old Tyrone Gomes in December after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He’s also serving a 20-year prison sentence for an unrelated federal drug offense.

Twenty-eight-year-old Christine Ferreira was found shot and stabbed to death at a Route 6 rest area in Barnstable in September 2015.

Prosecutors say alleged gang leader Denzel Chisholm planned to kill Ferreira in retaliation for her testimony against a fellow gang member. Chisholm was sentenced to life in prison without parole for murder. His sister pleaded guilty to conspiracy and received no prison time.
