WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - John Carroll scored 24 points, Hassan Attia added a career-high 20 and Hartford beat UMass Lowell 84-73 on Wednesday night for its sixth win in eight games.
J.R. Lynch had 19 points and a career-high nine assists, and Jason Dunne scored 11 for the Hawks (9-8, 2-1 America East Conference), who shot 56.9 percent from the floor.
The River Hawks went without a field goal for six minutes before closing to 65-64 on Jahad Thomas’s layup and Obadiah Noel’s 3, then led 67-66 on Josh Gantz’s 3 with 7:31 left. The lead traded hands before Carroll’s go-ahead 3-point play sparked a 9-1 run for an 81-73 Hawks lead.
Carroll has scored in double figures in 11 straight games.
Attia scored 10 of Hartford’s final 14 first-half points and the Hawks led 41-38 at halftime after trailing until the final 4:04.
Gantz scored a career-high 19 points, Thomas added 16 points with eight assists, and Rinardo Perry scored 13 for UMass Lowell (6-9, 0-2), which has lost four straight.
