Having just won his record-tying sixth national title as a college football coach, would Nick Saban really leave behind the dynasty he’s built at Alabama and take another shot at coaching in the NFL?

According to Bruce Arians, there’s one NFL coaching vacancy that could tempt him away from the Crimson Tide.

“There’s a job he covets, and it just happens to be open … the Giants,” the former Arizona Cardinals coach said in an appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” Tuesday.

“He’s got a dynasty right now, [and] another dynamite recruiting class,” Arians added. “Why he would do it [leave Alabama]? I don’t know, but it would not shock me if he did.”

Saban previously coached in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, but only lasted two seasons as the Dolphins failed to make the playoffs during his brief tenure. The former LSU coach then went on to Alabama, the Crimson Tide winning five national championships with Saban at the helm.

Arians suggested Saban is attracted to the Giants job because of New York’s legacy as an NFL franchise.

“They’re the Giants,” Arians said. “When we grew up, they were the thing.”

New York would certainly present Saban with a different challenge than Alabama, the Crimson Tide already the front-runners to repeat as national champions next year. The Giants, on the other hand, hold the no. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after an abysmal 3-13 season.
