Rep. Brendan Boyle said Friday the tax cuts, combined with the new spending bill, are setting up the U.S. for economic disaster.
“This is a $2 trillion plan that is coming in the eighth year of an economic expansion,” Mr. Boyle, Pennsylvania Democrat, said on MSNBC.
He said that despite House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s lengthy eight-hour address on the House floor this week promising that she her caucus would not support the budget, Mr. Boyle said, she didn’t whip votes for or against the bill.
“I don’t think she guaranteed 73 votes to the majority,” Mr. Boyle said.
He acknowledged why some of his colleagues decided to vote for the bill, which included disaster relief for areas hit by hurricanes last fall, as well as funding for community health centers and veterans health care.
“This was a tough vote on both sides of the aisle,” Mr. Boyle said.

The House and Senate both passed the budget deal in the early morning hours on Friday, and it now heads to President Trump’s desk for a signature.
