Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney said Thursday he will not support the spending bill because it’s financially irresponsible.

“I have a big problem with this spending bill because it is drunken sailor level spending. And I’m not going to go along with it just because the domestic spending is just as high as the defense spending, which seems to be the bipartisan agreement here,” Mr. Maloney, New York Democrat, said on CNN.

Mr. Maloney said that although he agrees with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi that there needs to be a debate on Dreamers, that is not one of the reasons he is withholding his support. He pointed to the growing debt and said this bill will only further add to an already problematic situation.

“It is collusion between the parties who can only agree on spending money we don’t have. It’s outrageous,” he said.

Ms. Pelosi has threatened to withhold the support of her caucus if a debate on Dreamers — those brought to the U.S. illegally as children — is not addressed.
