RIVERDALE, Md. (AP) - Maryland prosecutors say the MS-13 street gang is connected to the stabbing of a 16-year-old student outside a high school in a Washington, D.C. suburb.

Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks tells The Washington Post that information investigators have gathered shows the stabbing was related to MS-13. County police say the boy who was stabbed Tuesday afternoon remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police Chief Hank Stawinski says officers were called out to Parkdale High School about a group gathered nearby. Stawinski says officers saw the teenager staggering out of a wooded area after a dispute had escalated.

Prosecutors say several juvenile students are in custody.

Alsobrooks would not detail the evidence showing MS-13 involvement.
