Former Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that he has difficulty understanding how the White House functions daily under President Trump’s leadership.
“All I know is the sort of result is controlled chaos,” Mr. Biden said on MSNBC.
He said that he would not call Mr. Trump a “liar” but said there are so many inaccuracies in what he says that he’s lost credibility.
“You can tell his whole team is concerned about what he says,” he said.
Mr. Biden also clarified statements he made in a previous interview when he said that, if he were the president’s lawyer, he’d advise him not to sit down with the special counsel investigating the Trump campaign for collusion. He said Mr. Trump said should sit with the special counsel, but added that as a lawyer, he’d be nervous about the president’s habit of saying things offhandedly.
“There has been so many misstatements, deliberate misstatements,” Mr. Biden said.
When asked if Hillary Clinton would have won if she were a “better candidate” the former vice president said that Mr. Trump’s rise was a phenomenon unseen in national politics.
“I think what happened was something we’ve never seen in American politics. The vast majority of people in and out of the American press thought he had disqualified himself 15 times,” Mr. Biden said.
He added that as a result many believed Mrs. Clinton would win without much effort.
