If you wanted to catch a home game for the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals or Georgetown Hoyas soon, this week will be your last chance for a while.
The 2018 tour “Disney on Ice Presents: Frozen” comes to Capital One Arena Feb. 14-19, sending all of the building’s tenants on road trips at the same time.
The Wizards host the Boston Celtics Thursday night, but between Disney’s skaters putting them out and the upcoming NBA All-Star Break, they won’t play a home game again for two more weeks. They return Friday, Feb. 23 to face the Hornets.
The Hoyas’ men’s basketball team is actually returning from a three-game road trip to host Seton Hall on Saturday. They’ll try to snap a four-game losing skid against a team that spent much of the year ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. After one road game next week, Georgetown will be back at Capital One Arena quickly to host No. 5 Xavier on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
The Caps will return soonest of all, but will also play the most road games during the Disney trip. They host the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday and the Detroit Red Wings Sunday, but then travel to Winnipeg, Minnesota, Chicago and Buffalo. They get back on their home ice Tuesday, Feb. 20 to play the Tampa Bay Lightning.
So each day from Thursday through Sunday, Capital One Arena hosts either a basketball or hockey game for fans inclined to catch one of their favorite teams.
“Disney on Ice” this year features the story of “Frozen” and stars figure skater Julianne DiMura.
