Rep. Devin Nunes said Wednesday that his investigation is moving from FISA abuses to problems within the State Department.
“We started with FISA abuse,” the House Intelligence Committee chair said on “The Hugh Hewitt Show.” That was the first phase. We wrapped that up. Now, we are looking into discrepancies or irregularities at the State Department and how information came into the State Department, what was done with that information, how that was processed and where it went.”
Mr. Nunes wrote a memo about political bias within the justice system and how a surveillance warrant was granted for certain Trump aides due to information collected by political opponents. The release has stirred up controversy on Capitol Hill, as Democrats accuse Republicans of trying to smear the Justice Department and FBI due to the investigation into the Trump presidential campaign.
The California Republican said much of the information was not new to the committee, but after releasing the information, they’re trying to decide how to proceed.
