One issue with being a famous athlete is having the public know when you’re away from your home for a while.
While New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was in Minneapolis for the Super Bowl last week, his Massachusetts home was broken into and some possessions were stolen, according to Foxborough (Mass.) police.
The city’s police chief confirmed to reporters Tuesday that Gronkowski’s house, not far from Gillette Stadium, was burglarized the night before.
“There were items stolen,” Foxborough Police Chief William Baker said. “We’re not going to release the nature of the items stolen.”
Though police would not confirm this, a dispatcher reportedly said that “multiple safes and possibly guns” were taken from the home.
This comes on the heels of a busy weekend for Gronkowski. He caught nine passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns for the Pats in the Super Bowl, but implied during his postgame press conference that his retirement from the NFL was a possibility.
#Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski said at the podium that he is “definitely going to look at my future, for sure.” Will sit down a few weeks after the season and see where he’s at regarding retirement.
