OPINION:
The National Weather Service erroneously sent a Tsunami warning causing alarm for thousands who received alerts on their smart phones.
***THERE IS NO TSUNAMI WARNING***
A Tsunami Test was conducted earlier this morning, that did have TEST in the message. We are currently trying to find out how a message went out as a warning. We will update you when we find out more.

From New England to Florida to New Orleans, local news outlets reported calls from citizens alarmed over the alert they received.
According to the National Weather Service, a the warning was sent while a Tsunami Test was underway. In a tweet the New York office of NWS explained that they were investigating how the warning was sent during the test.
