Kirk Cousins didn’t make the Super Bowl, but he still made an appearance locally during the broadcast.

Cousins appeared in a commercial with a Donald Trump impersonator — and together they sold fireplaces.

The ad is a a very strange premise, but it goes like this: President Trump is kicked out of the White House by Melania Trump for having a dirty fireplace. Then Cousins runs into Trump outside the White House and recommends he buys a gas fireplace instead.

Cousins and Trump go through the typical jokes one might expect — ranging from Trump’s approval rating to Trump using Cousins’ “You like that!” catchphrase. (“That’s my line, Mr. President,” Cousins said.)

The NFL designates spots in the broadcast for local advertisers. The rate for these commercials is believed to be much cheaper than the $5 million price of a 30-second national ad. Crain’s Detroit reported local spots tend to typically be $100,000.

Cousins shot the fireplace commercial shortly after the season. It was paid for by Virginia-based Cyprus Air.

The commercial even includes a reference to the Alex Smith trade, which effectively ended the Cousins era in Washington.

This was the second year in a row that Cyprus Air bought a local Super Bowl spot, also using the same Trump impersonator with Redskins legend Joe Jacoby.

Actor and comedian John Di Domenico plays Trump.
