President Trump knocked Democrats Monday for pushing universal health care after thousands demonstrated in the United Kingdom this weekend due to insufficiencies in their health care system.

“The Democrats are pushing for Universal HealthCare while thousands of people are marching in the UK because their U system is going broke and not working. Dems want to greatly raise taxes for really bad and non-personal medical care. No thanks!” Mr. Trump tweeted.

The demonstrations were related to what protesters described as insufficient funds for the National Health Service, the United Kingdom’s health care system. But marchers told The Guardian they actually “feared” a U.S.-style health care system where the cost burden is on the patient.

Some Democrats have long pushed for a universal health care system, or a Medicaid-for-all style change, and saw Obamacare as a step in that direction. Republicans pushed back sharply on this idea, saying it would drive the cost up with no means to pay for such a system.
