TEWKSBURY, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts high school student is accused of threatening to commit a school shooting in a video posted on Snapchat.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday the video depicts a 15-year-old male student holding what appears to be an assault rifle and threatening to commit a school shooting. Police later determined the teen was holding a pellet gun.
Authorities say the video was distributed to four students at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica (bihl-RIH’-kuh). They say the teen’s mother saw the video and reported it. Her son attends the high school.
The school wrote on Twitter that while “there was no threat or incident” at the school, it’s “grateful” for the response from local authorities.
