Actor Jim Carrey has turned his creative energies toward to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting with the release of a painting titled “’Oh say, can’t you see?!’”
The man who once “talked” with his behind in the “Ace Ventura” movies got serious over the weekend when he shared a painting with nearly 18 million fans. The 56-year-old’s work portrays the blood of a teen shooting victim — like one of the 17 individuals who died in Parkland, Florida — as red stripes of the American flag.
“Oh say, can’t you see?!” Mr. Carrey tweeted Sunday.

Reaction to the actor’s piece was mixed.
“This is so powerful. Your art speaks a million words,” wrote one user.
“This is just as brutal as the truth is, awesome work,” added another.
“How many armed guards keep watch over you?” replied a third person. “I’m just curious. Because everyone says all the Hollywood actors are pushing to disarm the American citizens but they keep armed guards. You’re definitely not one of them, are you?”
The actor responded to fans on Monday by saying he would be “fading into the everything for awhile. See ya soon.”
Police arrested 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz on Feb. 14 after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and charged him with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
