EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) - Junior Robinson scored 22 points, Chris Wray blocked a career-best six shots and Mount Saint Mary’s broke away in the second half to a 73-62 victory on Saturday to defeat Northeast Conference champion Wagner.

Mount Saint Mary’s (18-13, 12-6), the defending NEC champion, locked up the second seed into the upcoming conference tournament. Wagner (21-8, 14-4) had already clinched the top seed.

Wray opened the second half with a layup, breaking a 31-31 tie, and Robinson wrapped a pair of baskets around a Wagner miss as Mount Saint Mary’s quickly grabbed a four-point lead and pushed it to 48-37 five-and-a-half minutes in.

The Seahawks couldn’t get closer than nine the rest of the way. JoJo Cooper led Wagner with 18 points, Romone Saunders added 16 with 17 rebounds.

Robinson, the Northeast Conference scoring leader, was 8 of 17 from the field, six of eight from the line. Wray added 11 points and nine rebounds, Donald Carey scored 14 and Bobby Planutis 12.

Wagner opens the NEC Tournament Wednesday against Central Connecticut.
