WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - BB&T says its customer service system has “substantially recovered” after an outage which impacted thousands of customers.
Spokesman Brian Davis said in a statement on Saturday that the bank was making significant progress to repair problems blamed on an equipment malfunction at a data center. He says the bank is reviewing the cause of the problem to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Davis says customers of the Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based bank should know that account information may only reflect transactions made through Thursday night. He said bank systems are still processing updates and account information should become current on Saturday.
Davis reiterated that officials don’t believe the problem is related to cyber-security.
The problem, first reported Thursday, impacted customers in central North Carolina, Atlanta, the Washington area and Philadelphia.
