Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Friday said that a court’s recent move to invalidate Pennsylvania’s congressional district lines is a “dangerous” example of “judicial overreach.”

“It is so dangerous what’s just happened in Pennsylvania,” Ms. McDaniel said. “It is complete judicial overreach.”

“They have completely thrown out the will of the voters who elected their legislature, legislators to draw the maps,” she said, speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “It is frightening. Every American should be paying attention.”

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued a new map for the state’s congressional districts this week, saying the old one improperly limited the ability to have competitive elections.

Analysts have said the new map gives Democrats a better chance at eating into the GOP’s 13-5 advantage in the state’s U.S. House delegation.

Ms. McDaniel also urged conservative activists to match Democrats’ energy as Republicans look to preserve their congressional majorities in the fall.

“The Democrats have the energy — we need to ramp up and have that same energy going into these midterms,” she said.
