SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) - Victor Joseph scored 11 of his career-high 36 points in the second overtime and Cal Poly rallied to beat CSU Northridge 90-86 on Thursday night.

Joseph’s jumper and two free throws put Cal Poly up 82-78 and the Mustangs led 85-80 on his 3 with 1:11 left in 2OT. The Matadors closed to 85-84 on Lyrik Shreiner’s free throws, but Luke Meikle and Joseph combined for three free throws for an 88-84 Cal Poly lead.

Jalon Pipkins’ layup made it a two-point game with two seconds left, but he fouled Joseph, who iced it with two from the line.

Donovan Fields scored 23 points with four 3s for the Mustangs (9-19, 4-10 Big West), who split the season series with the Matadors.

Joseph’s 3 at the buzzer tied it at 78 and forced double overtime. Trailing 40-31 at halftime, the Mustangs tied it at 69 on Fields’ layup at the end of regulation.

Tavrion Dawson scored 31 points with 13 rebounds and Shreiner had 15 with 11 boards for the Matadors (6-22, 3-11), who have lost eight of their last nine.
