PITTSBURGH (AP) - Chelsea Nelson scored a career-high 30 on 10-for-13 shooting and No. 21 North Carolina State defeated Pittsburgh 70-66 on Thursday night, the Wolfpack’s 10 win in their last 11 games.
Kaila Early added 12 points and Aislinn Konig and Kiara Leslie 11 apiece for the Wolfpack (22-6, 11-4 Atlantic Coast Conference). Nelson made 9 of 10 free throws and Ealey 8 of 11 as the Wolfpack went 27 of 32 from the line to 5 of 11 for Pittsburgh. Leslie had eight rebounds and seven assists.
Pittsburgh (10-18, 2-13), which has lost five straight, had an early 10-0 run but N.C. State closed the first quarter with an 8-0 run to trail 23-22. After the Panthers scored the first basket of the second quarter, the Wolfpack scored nine straight and went on to take a 46-34 halftime lead.
Yacine Diop scored 20 points and Kalista Walters 15 for Pitt.
