ESSEX, Vt. (AP) - Police in Essex, Vermont, say a juvenile has been issued a citation stemming from threats made toward the local high school.
Superintendent Beth Cobb tells the Burlington Free Press that Essex High School had a heightened police presence on Wednesday after the threats were reported to school officials and law enforcement on Tuesday night.
Police said they determined the threat was a hoax. They did not provide any further information about the nature of the threats.
In St. Albans, students were evacuated Wednesday from Bellows Free Academy after a written threat was found in a bathroom.
Wednesday’s disruptions came after other threats earlier this week and after a teen was arrested late last week and accused of plotting a mass shooting at Fair Haven Union High School.
