SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo has traveled to Schenectady to get a firsthand look at flooding along the Mohawk River.
The Democrat made the unannounced stop Wednesday. Ice jams and rising temperatures have caused flooding in some areas along the city’s historic Stockade neighborhood. Cuomo typically alerts the media when he plans to visit the scene of an ongoing emergency.
It was the second event of the day for Cuomo that wasn’t on his public schedule. Earlier he spoke at a labor union rally in New York City after the union endorsed his bid for a third term.
Cuomo hasn’t taken questions from political reporters in the state Capitol in several weeks, since before the start of the federal corruption trial of his former top aide and friend Joe Percoco. Percoco has pleaded not guilty.
