OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - House officials are reviewing an allegation against a Democratic lawmaker for alleged inappropriate behavior.
The Seattle Times reported Wednesday that the allegation against Democratic Rep. David Sawyer is being investigated by House counsel and the chief clerk. No other details about the allegation were provided.
House Majority Leader Pat Sullivan said in a written statement that Sawyer’s contact with staff has been restricted. In an email to The Associated Press, Sawyer said he was “fully prepared to address any concerns raised by staff.”
“We need to be transparent and accountable so everyone feels safe and confident in the workplace,” he wrote. “The Legislature is no exception.”
Sullivan said that any decisions on future actions will be made once the chief clerk’s review is complete.
