SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Health officials in Utah say they haven’t confirmed any new cases of hepatitis A in connection with infected workers at two restaurants a convenience store.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports neither Salt Lake or Utah county has discovered any new cases of the disease since sounding the alarm last month, though the disease’s long incubation time means it’s still possible.
Anyone who visited a Sonic Drive-In or Olive Garden in Spanish Fork or a 7-Eleven store in West Jordan was asked call a hotline and possibly get a vaccine.
Utah’s outbreak continues to grow, however. The Utah Department of Health has now confirmed more than 160 cases, concentrated primarily on the homeless population.
Hepatitis A is an extremely contagious liver disease. It can be spread through contaminated food and water or sexual contact.
