MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The state Claims Board is postponing consideration of a former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee business school dean’s claim that the state owes him nearly $800,000.

Timothy Smunt alleges the school broke a number of hiring promises, setting his pay too low and failing to promptly nominate him for a Wisconsin Distinguished Professorship.

The board was scheduled to take up Smunt’s claim at a Feb. 7 meeting. Board Program and Policy Analyst Patti Reardon said Friday that the matter has been postponed until the next board meeting.

Reardon said the item was postponed because the board’s state Capitol meeting room isn’t large enough to accommodate Smunt’s attorney’s PowerPoint presentation and the board may not have a quorum available on Feb. 7.

The board hasn’t scheduled a meeting beyond Feb. 7 yet.
