Team USA will face Team Canada for Olympic gold in the women’s hockey final after the two North American neighbors cruised in their respective semifinal games.
Canada topped the Olympic Athletes from Russia 5-0 after the Americans beat Finland by the same score earlier in the day.
The puck will drop on the gold-medal game 11:10 p.m. Eastern on Feb. 21.
Jennifer Wakefield scored two goals for Canada in the semifinal, in addition to goals by Marie-Philip Poulin, Emily Clark and Rebecca Johnston.
The U.S. and Canada entered as the event’s two heavy favorites, and with good reason. Since women’s hockey made its Olympic debut in 1998, the two countries made it to every gold medal game except once, when Sweden upset the U.S. in a 2006 semifinal game.
