BOSTON (AP) - The new chief justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court has been ceremoniously sworn in by Gov. Charlie Baker.
The Republican governor administered the ceremonial oath of office this week to Chief Justice Mark Green. The Illinois native has been serving as chief justice since December.
Green replaces Hon. Scott Kafker, who was recently elevated to Massachusetts’ highest court. Green was appointed to the appeals court in 2001 by Gov. Jane Swift.
Baker says he’s confident that Green’s 17 years on the court “have prepared him well for service as the chief.”
