HONOLULU (AP) - The Latest on a threat made to a Hawaii school (all times local):
5 p.m.
A threatening post on social media did not cancel classes at a suburban Honolulu middle school.
Instead, police were on campus Friday at Kapolei Middle School, bags were checked and a modified lockdown was implemented.
The principal announced an all-clear at about 9:15 a.m. Friday. According to a letter to parents, that’s when police found there was no imminent threat to campus.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports someone posted they planned to “shoot up” the school at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The Hawaii threat comes two days after a shooter killed 17 students at a school in Parkland, Florida.
Hawaii Department of Education spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz says unless it is determined that there is imminent danger to students and staff, school officials keep schools open.

A lockdown has been lifted at a middle school in suburban Honolulu after a shooting threat was made on social media.
The principal at Kapolei Middle School announced an all-clear Friday.
Hawaii Department of Education spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz says school officials were notified of the threat Thursday night and reported it to police. She says parents were told before school started Friday that there would be increased security and police presence.
She didn’t immediately answer questions about why officials decided to allow students onto campus after knowing about the threat.
She says the FBI is involved in the investigation.

Police and FBI are responding to a suburban Honolulu middle school after a shooting threat was made on social media.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the threat was made on Instagram Thursday. The person who posted it said they planned to “shoot up” the middle school in the community of Kapolei at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Police and the state Department of Education didn’t immediately respond to messages Friday left by The Associated Press.
Honolulu police are treating it as a terroristic threatening case.
