Hollywood director and political activist Joss Whedon says Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been transformed into a modern version of Adolf Hitler’s Schutzstaffel (SS).
The man who is slated to direct “Batgirl” for Warner Bros. took to social media on Thursday and warned fans that enforcement of federal immigration laws constitutes behavior akin to Nazi “SS” troops. The remark comes as ICE ramps up raids on illegal immigrants thwarting federal law in “sanctuary cities.”
“ICE is trump’s SS,” Mr. Whedon tweeted to nearly 220,000 followers. “They are the shame of our nation (I know, there’s lots, I picked one). How do we stop them? How do we protect our people?”
The director, who created a pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC called Save The Day for the 2016 presidential election, was criticized for the explosive rhetoric.
“A Govt agency enforcing the laws set by Congress is bad? How is that exactly?” asked one reader.
“This is how extreme the modern left is today. If you enforce completely reasonable and long-standing immigration law, you’re a Nazi,” added another.
Other notable works by Mr. Whedon include the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” television series, along with Marvel Studios films like “The Avengers” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
